What we keep,
and what we do not.

MacroCrumb holds a food diary, which is personal and sometimes sensitive. This page says plainly what is stored, why, and for how long. Last updated 7 September 2026.

What we store

• Your account: name, email address and a hashed password. We never see your password.
• Your food data: the meals and ingredients you save, what you log, what you plan, your daily targets and your timezone.
• Billing: if you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment. We keep a customer reference and the state of your subscription. Card details never reach us.
• Your OpenAI API key, if you choose to save one. It is encrypted at rest, never shown again after you save it, and used only for photos you upload yourself.
• Connections: when you connect an assistant, we store the access token it uses and which client it belongs to.

What we never store

• Your photos. With the connector the photo never reaches us at all: your assistant reads it and sends only the food it found. If you upload a photo in the app, it is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes, and also when it fails.
• Payment details. Those live with Stripe.
• Tracking. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts on the pages you read before signing in.

Who your data reaches

Nobody, unless you send it. An assistant you connect can read and write your meals, ingredients and entries, because that is what you connected it for. It reaches only your account, never anyone else's, and you can end that connection at any time on the connections screen. Analysing a photo runs on your own ChatGPT subscription or your own OpenAI key, so what you send goes to your account with them, under their terms.

We use Laravel Cloud for hosting and Stripe for payment. They process data on our instructions to run the service, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your data stays while your account exists. Delete your account and the food log, the meals, the plans and any stored key go with it. Billing records we must keep for tax purposes are kept by Stripe for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold, because the app shows it. You can correct it, export it, or delete it. If you want a copy in one file, or want the account removed and cannot do it yourself, write to us and we will do it.
